Ræder has assisted Gill Gruppen with its joint venture with Sojitz Corporation
We would like to congratulate Gill Group with its recent entering into of a JV with major Japanese trading company Sojitz Corporation, with Sojitz acquiring 49% of the shares in Norwegian autocar distributor Pongo.
Through its subsidiaries, Pongo is the exclusive distributor in Norway for well-known brands such as Subaru, MG (50/50 with the Haug family) and Geely. In 2022, it distributed some 5,100 cars in the Norwegian market generating a turn-over of approximately NOK1.4bn.
Nils Petter Gill, Chair at Gill Gruppen, said in the press release: “This is the most significant international cooperation within Norwegian auto-import ever, and we are very happy that such a major player enters the Norwegian market.”
Ræder’s team, consisting of Tone Kaarbø, Kyrre Width Kielland, Kristian Østberg, Henriette Celine Scheel, Julie Dahl Sagmo and Margrethe Wurschmidt Hemstad acted as legal counsel to Gill Gruppen throughout the transaction.
